Our Health Care and Hospitals Department represents hospitals, physicians, preferred provider organizations and other alternative delivery systems in all types of transactional and litigation matters (including PRRB and state Medicaid appeals). Our Health Care and Hospitals practice covers all areas of health care law, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, the Anti-Kickback and Stark statutes, HIPAA and contracting issues such as managed care, information technology, large equipment purchases, leases and supply agreements. Our Health Care and Hospitals Department has assisted clients with the drafting of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations to meet JCAHO and changes in the law, and with the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs to meet the requirements of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and the Internal Revenue Service.

Ellen E. Stewart, the chair of our Health Care and Hospitals Department, has extensive experience in all aspects of health care law. She is a member of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association, a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Colorado Women’s Forum in Health Administration.
