Eugene M. Sprague's practice emphasizes commercial and real estate litigation and transactional work involving financial institutions and self-insurance pools. He has litigated cases involving construction defects, construction contracts, real estate development, intellectual property, probate, civil fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, director and officer liability, governmental immunity, professional liability, lender liability, mechanics' liens, quiet title, negotiable instruments, banking and trust company regulation, securities regulation, and the interpretation of insurance policies, including reinsurance treaties issued by underwriters at Lloyd's of London. He has also represented parties in commercial arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Sprague has provided legal services to numerous financial institutions in Colorado. His experience includes the negotiation of regulatory agreements, mergers and acquisitions, change of control, and commercial law issues arising from the daily operations of banks and credit unions. Mr. Sprague also has advised self-insurance pools regarding regulatory compliance issues, coverage opinions, the drafting of insuring agreements, and reinsurance disputes.

Mr. Sprague is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colorado College. He attended The University of Denver College of Law, graduating in 1976 as a member of the Order of St. Ives. Prior to joining the firm in 1994, he was a shareholder in the Denver law firm of Eason, Sprague and Wilson, P.C. He was admitted to the Colorado State Bar and the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado in 1976, and subsequently was admitted to the Bars of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. He was born August 18, 1947.
