Daniel Lacomis' practice focuses on taxation, employee benefits, executive compensation, and tax exempt organizations. He received his undergraduate degree in commerce from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from the University of Colorado. While in Law School, Mr. Lacomis served as a member and editor of the University of Colorado Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Lacomis obtained an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program.

Mr. Lacomis advises and represents clients in corporate, partnership, and limited liability company matters, including entity formation, business acquisitions, and business transactions. In addition, he advises tax-exempt entities, including public health care organizations and trade associations, with regard to formation, operation, unrelated business income, joint-ventures, and other tax matters.

Mr. Lacomis' practice also encompasses all aspects of employee benefits law including general advice regarding compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other applicable laws; preparation of plan documents; representation of clients in audits and investigations conducted by the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service; obtaining required federal agency approvals of plan documents and plan transactions; counseling clients with respect to the design and structure of their employee benefit plans; executive compensation plans; and advising clients regarding fiduciary obligations relating to their benefit plans.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Lacomis was an associate with Gorsuch Kirgis LLP. Mr. Lacomis' experience also includes practicing in the private sector for a nonprofit organization counseling school boards and officials with regard to legal compliance and policy related matters.

Mr. Lacomis is a member of the Denver Bar Association, Tax Section, the Colorado Bar Association, Tax Section, the Virginia Bar Association and the Western Pension & Benefits Conference, Denver Chapter.
